Volkswagen will unveil a new small and affordable electric SUV called the ID.2X at September’s Munich Motor Show.
The Volkswagen ID.2X is an upcoming all-electric compact SUV, set to expand Volkswagen's ID family of electric vehicles. Designed as an affordable entry-level electric SUV, the ID.2X is expected to serve as an electric alternative to the current T-Cross model.
Previously previewed as the ID.2all, the new name has been confirmed by VW CEO Thomas Schäfer. This will be part of the VW group's Electric Urban Car Family, which also comprises the ID.2, Cupra Raval, and Skoda Epiq.
The ID.2X will be built on Volkswagen's MEB Entry platform, a variant of the modular electric drive matrix tailored for smaller electric vehicles. This platform supports front-wheel drive, marking a departure from the rear-wheel-drive layout seen in models like the ID.3. The SUV is anticipated to feature a modern design with an upright stance, short overhangs, and a distinctive C-pillar treatment, aligning with Volkswagen's new design language.
